His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Commissions New IRDIS-KNUST Building

His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and the Chancellor of KNUST, has officially commissioned the newly constructed building for the Institute for Rural Development and Innovation Studies (IRDIS) at KNUST, Kumasi.

The ceremony, which happened on 29th November 2025, was attended by distinguished guests, including Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu (Chairman of the University Council), Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson (Vice-Chancellor), senior university officials, IRDIS staff, and members of the university community.

Prof. Ebenezer Owusu-Addo, Director of IRDIS-KNUST, in his remarks, emphasized the institute’s commitment to rural development, research, and training. He announced plans to introduce specialized graduate programmes in rural development, aimed at equipping professionals to tackle rural challenges and contribute to national rural policy development. Prof. Owusu-Addo also highlighted IRDIS’s intention to collaborate with traditional leaders to support rural development initiatives.
